Membership Vision & Objectives

GiEM envisions a collaborative platform where individuals and organizations unite to advance gender equality in education. Members will work together to design and deploy innovative interventions to address systemic barriers and promote gender equity in education.

Membership Target

Giem aims to grow its membership base strategically, balancing individual
organizations and networked organizations.

Eligibility and Application Process

Membership is open to organizations and individuals committed to addressing barriers to girls’ education and promoting gender equity in education in Kenya. Prospective members may include:

  • NGOs, CBOs, and FBOs
  • Research and academic institutions, think tanks
  • Networks, coalitions, and alliances
  • Individual experts and advocates for gender equity in education

Prospective members must
submit the following with their application form:

  • A 300-word profile outlining focus areas, regions of operation, and
    contributions to gender and education.
  • For organizations: Details of the head and two representatives, registration
    certificate, and proof of physical address (audited financial reports are optional
    for entities under 3 years old).
  • For individuals: CV and a reference letter from a recognized institution/advocate

Applicants may select up to three themes as indicated
below:

  • Gender and education policy
  • Sexual and reproductive health
  • Menstrual hygiene management
  • Climate change and education
  • Girls’ leadership and agency
  • Addressing boys’ education and gender disparities
